Blue Conker is committed to creating safe, respectful and supportive environments for everyone who engages with my services.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We take all concerns relating to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk seriously and will respond appropriately, proportionately and in accordance with current UK safeguarding legislation and guidance.
1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to explain Blue Conker's commitment to safeguarding and the steps We will take if We become aware of concerns relating to the welfare or safety of a child, young person or adult at risk.
This policy supports the safe delivery of all Blue Conker services and provides a clear framework for recognising, responding, recording and reporting safeguarding concerns.
2. SCOPE
This policy applies to all Blue Conker services delivered:
• in person
• online
• within the community
• on walks
• during workshops and events
• within one-to-one coaching
• during hypnotherapy
• throughout group programmes
• during Defrazzle Sessions
• through online courses where contact with participants occurs.
It applies to work undertaken with:
• adults
• adults at risk
• children
• young people.
Where services are provided to children or young people, appropriate onboarding documentation, including parental or guardian consent (where required), emergency contact information and confidentiality arrangements, must be completed before services commence.
3. GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Blue Conker is committed to:
• treating every individual with dignity and respect
• promoting wellbeing and personal safety
• creating environments where people feel heard and supported
• acting in the best interests of children and adults at risk
• responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns
• maintaining accurate records
• working within professional boundaries
• seeking advice or making referrals where appropriate.
4. WHAT IS SAFEGUARDING?
Safeguarding means protecting people's health, wellbeing and human rights so they can live free from abuse, neglect, exploitation or harm.
Safeguarding concerns may include, but are not limited to:
• physical abuse
• emotional abuse
• psychological abuse
• sexual abuse
• neglect
• financial abuse
• coercive or controlling behaviour
• domestic abuse
• discrimination
• exploitation
• self-neglect
• online abuse
• grooming
• modern slavery.
5. RECOGNISING A SAFEGUARDING CONCERN
A safeguarding concern may arise through:
• something a client tells me
• something We directly observe
• changes in behaviour or presentation
• concerns raised by another person
• information disclosed during coaching, hypnotherapy or group sessions.
Not every concern requires immediate intervention, but all concerns will be considered carefully and proportionately.
6. RESPONDING TO A SAFEGUARDING CONCERN
If we become aware of a safeguarding concern, we will:
• remain calm and listen without judgement
• take concerns seriously
• avoid making promises of absolute confidentiality
• record factual information as soon as possible
• consider whether further advice or referral is required
• contact the appropriate statutory services where there is reason to believe someone is
• at risk of significant harm.
If there is an immediate risk to life or serious injury, We will contact the emergency services without delay.
7. CONFIDENTIALITY
Blue Conker treats all personal information confidentially.
However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where there is reason to believe that a child, young person or adult is at risk of significant harm, or where disclosure is required by law.
Where possible, We will explain the need to share information and involve the individual in the process unless doing so would increase the risk of harm.
8. RECORD KEEPING
Any safeguarding concern will be recorded accurately, factually and as soon as reasonably practicable.
Records will include, where appropriate:
• dates and times
• factual observations
• information disclosed
• actions taken
• referrals made
• outcomes where known.
Safeguarding records will be stored securely in accordance with the Blue Conker Privacy Policy and UK data protection legislation.
9. PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES
Blue Conker works within the limits of coaching, hypnotherapy and wellbeing practice. We do not investigate safeguarding concerns or attempt to replace the role of statutory services. Where appropriate, concerns will be referred to the relevant safeguarding authority or emergency services.

This policy has been developed with reference to relevant UK legislation and guidance,
including:
• Children Act 1989
• Children Act 2004
• Care Act 2014
• Working Together to Safeguard Children (current edition)
• Keeping Children Safe in Education (where relevant)
• Human Rights Act 1998
• Equality Act 2010
• UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
• Data Protection Act 2018.
This policy will be reviewed periodically to reflect changes in legislation, guidance and professional practice.
11. CONCERNS ABOUT MY PRACTICE
If you have concerns about the way Blue Conker has managed a safeguarding matter, you may raise these in accordance with the Blue Conker Complaints Policy & Procedure.
